7 MODERN WAYS TO STYLE A FLANNEL

7 MODERN WAYS TO STYLE A FLANNEL

What's up Gentlemen? I'm Emmanuel from Teaching Men Everything, and today, we are focusing on the various ways of styling (drum rolls please) the word famous, multi-award winning, ladies tripping, money looking and Gentlemen wearing Flannels. (Cue the angels singing)
I know I've said this about hoodies, but flannels are one of the best clothing pieces you'd ever come across. You might not know this, but flannels are not only worn alongside jeans and trainers. Shocking right? Stick with me, observe and be part of the reveal of mysteries in the Flannel world.
1. Flannel with Jeans: Haha, I bet you knew I was gonna start with this one. Your basic flannel with a pair of jeans. Even a blind man cannot go wrong with this. This can be worn with sneakers, trainers, or if you want to go a bit further, any type of boot (Chukka, Timberland, Chelsea or Leather). This is the most famous way of styling a flannel.
2. Flannel with Shorts: These can only be worn with slides or sneakers. But like hoodies with shorts, the shorts MUST not be baggy or cargo to achieve the best looks with this style.
3. Flannel with Chinos: Just in case you don't know what chinos are, which is impossible, these are the type of trousers in between jeans and suit trousers. They can be worn like jeans (not ripped), but can also be formally dressed up. Flannel and chinos are the latest additions to styling a flannel and as such are a bit sceptical to try on. I get it. But take it from me, a person who has rocked this look a thousand times, you'll love it! The only two rules to this are they can ONLY be worn on boots, and the chinos MUST be tailored to your size.
4. Flannel in Jackets: Whether it be Leather or Denim Jackets, Wearing flannel in jackets couldn't look more mature. But as all other forms of styling flannels do, it does come with its own rules. The flannel colour must be on the dark shade, and this look can only be nailed on the head if worn with sneakers like Vans, or boots, which according to my research is better.
5. Flannel as Jackets:        (on hoodies)     (on a simpleT shirt)
As much as flannels can be worn in jackets, they can also be worn AS jackets. And No, I don't mean wearing a leather jacket under a flannel, that would be stupid, I mean wearing on top of Hoodies or T-shirts. The only rule is The flannel should complement the Hoodie. I'm not sure if this can be worn with sneakers, if you are bold enough, please try this out and DM me a pic on Instagram, but to be on a safe side, this will go well on when styled on boots.
6. Flannel in a V-Neck sweater: Now, this is a bit on the formal side of the coin. But, there are various rules for pulling off this look.
- The V-Neck sweaters Must be fitted and no size bigger than you.
- The Flannel should always be darker than the sweater and
- This must ONLY be worn on formal shoes like brogues, oxford, monk straps, loafers and lace-up shoes.
7. Flannel in a suit: You know I cannot forget my Business Gentlemen, I always got something for you people. This is a total boss move, I cannot even overemphasize this! Buuut, there are a few rules.
- The suit and Flannel must always be dark colours like black and red or neutral colours like grey.
- The Blazer must always be darker than the flannel and
- This can be rocked with or without a long tie.
With all these said, I know I most definitely have opened your minds to the mysteries of the flannels. Comment down below if there is anyone I left out.
That's it from me for now.
